From the Shop to the Classroom:
One Jaguar’s New Life Teaching Teens About Safety and Skill

At Automotive Magic and Magic Lube & Rubber, we believe every vehicle has a story — and sometimes, that story takes an unexpected turn. Recently, we had the opportunity to donate an older Jaguar to the Parsippany High School Automotive Technology Program, giving it a second life as both a teaching tool and a powerful lesson in safety.
This particular Jaguar belonged to our long-time customers the Bonefede family, who, after learning that the needed repairs outweighed the car’s value, decided to let it go. While our technicians determined it was no longer roadworthy, we couldn’t help but think it still had something left to give. Rather than sending it off to a junkyard, we saw a perfect opportunity to upcycle it into something meaningful.

That’s when Parsippany High School’s Automotive Tech Program, led by Auto Shop Director Matthew Lazzari and Chrissy Russell, stepped in. Their students were thrilled to receive the donation — not for joy rides, but for learning. They’ll have the chance to take the Jaguar apart, study its systems, and put it back together, gaining valuable real-world experience that only hands-on work can provide.

But the story doesn’t end in the classroom. Once its days as a training tool are complete, this same car will take on a new role in Project Graduation’s mock DUI crash, a yearly event designed to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence. The realistic demonstration shows just how quickly lives can change when poor decisions are made behind the wheel — a sobering and memorable lesson for graduating seniors.
We’re honored to play a small part in such an important initiative. Supporting the next generation of technicians while promoting safe driving aligns perfectly with our values — giving back, educating, and keeping our community safe on (and off) the road.
A big thank you to Parsippany High School, Matthew Lazzari, Chrissy Russell, and everyone involved for welcoming this project with open arms. And a special shoutout to Brian Kallok and Adam Winget from our team for delivering the Jaguar and helping this idea come to life.
At Automotive Magic, we’re proud to know that a car that once seemed at the end of its road will now help pave the way for learning, awareness, and change — one student at a time.
